Children and Family Ministry
We love kids. We have committed to make children's ministry a vibrant, energetic, and loving atmosphere. Our Sunday School ministry meets during the school year and is focused on teaching the faith and Christian truths that help our young people develop a foundation for living. Children's ministry events include Sunday afternoon activities, Summer camps, and other scheduled events. Our hope is that the children and families at Prince of Peace might be built up and strengthened in faith and love.

SCHEDULES WANTED:
If your child is in Sports, Musicals, Concerts, ETC - I want to know about it.  Part of my job as Director of Children and Family Ministryis to be available to the children and families that I work with.  Part of that availability is to be around and active in the things that the family is involved in.  It goes a long way for a Child to see someone from Church show up at their events, and I LOVE being that person.  So, if your son or daughter is in a Fall Sport, has a concert or any other event, please feel free to let me know about it.  I can't promise that I will make it to everything, but I will try and come at least once.  Hope to see you on the field, court, or maybe even in the bleachers.

Katie Rykal: Director of Children and Family Ministry
I have been at Prince of Peace since August of 2006, and recently entered into the role of Director of Children and Family Ministry.  I am looking forward to the opportunity of being able to focus on one (albeit LARGE) age group.  My job consists of working with anyone ages Birth - 6th grade AND their families.  This includes working the Nursery Ministry, Sunday School, Baptism Ministry and Children's Ministry Events.  I believe that each of these programs is vital to the Prince of Peace congregation as they teach children about the LOVE of GOD!  As they enter into God's family on the day they are baptized, it is our job as a Congregation to reach out to them and help raise them in a Christian Community!

Just to tell you a little bit more about myself - I grew up as a "CAMP BRAT" which means I spent every summer of my life living at a Lutheran Bible Camp in my hometown of Chetek, WI.  I graduated from UW-River Falls with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education.  While in College I spent all of my summers working at Luther Park, and after graduation began my work in Ministry.  I started at St Philips in Fridley, MN as their Director of Junior High Ministry before coming here in 2006.  I have been married since July of 2007 and currently don't have any kids, but I love talking about and showing pictures of my 10 nieces and nephews.
I love working here at Prince of Peace because this church puts kids as one of their main focuses and I believe that children are the present and the future of this congregation.  As it says in Matthew 18, "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever humbles themselves like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
